G-9728 Transceiver Module
G-9687 Low Frequency Amplifier

The G-9728 60Hz Telemetry System consists of 3 internal modules: the power supply, the G-9728 Transceiver Module, and the G-9687A Low Frequency Amplifier. These modules form a system to transmit and receive 60Hz information for remote sensing of amplitude and phase information on feeder circuits.
The typical system contains a G-9728 Transceiver operating in a transmit mode. The G-9728 responds to 60Hz information through the G-9687 Amplifier. The G-9687 Amplifier at the transmit side is merely an isolated transformer stepping-down the line voltage to 5Vrms. The G-9728 Transmitter generates a tone based on the input. This linear scheme sends tones over a single pair of wires to the master site.
At the master receive site, the G-9728 Transceiver operates as a receiver and accepts the tones from the transmitter and generates a corresponding 60Hz waveform. The 60Hz waveform is used to drive the G-9687 Amplifier and in turn the loading device. The amplifier serves to boost the level of drive to 1 watt and transformer isolate the output load. A carrier detector contact is also provided to indicate when the tone has dropped below its threshold.

The G-9687A is a 60Hz amplifier that will deliver 2 watts at 110 volts to clocks and transducers for use in monitoring power networks for stability. A G-8728 60Hz Telemetry System is the normal source of the 60Hz input signal. The input signal is 5.0Vrms. The output load can be as low as 6000 Ohm. The G-8700 Power Supply can supply one G-9687A 60Hz, 2W Power Amp with ±12Vdc and requires ventillation holes and extra spacing of racks.
The power supply is mounted on Da-Tel standard 4 1/2 x 9 3/8 pc boards and requires 2" of panel space.
The G-9687A uses an Apex PA02 Power Operational Amplifier with a transformer and feedback network to amplify 60Hz at zero phase shift. On special order, the amplifier can be ordered with transformer and feedback networks for voice band use.
